Your designer is ten minutes away.
Duotone's studio has been in SS17 since day one. If you live in Subang Jaya or USJ, the team designing your home is not driving in from across the Klang Valley; we are already here.
What a genuinely local designer changes
Interior design involves dozens of site visits: measurements, hacking checks, carpentry fitting, the final snag walk. When the studio is ten minutes away instead of an hour, those visits happen when they should, not when traffic allows. Problems get seen the day they appear. And after handover, "can someone come and look at this" is a short drive, not a negotiation.
Being based here also means we know this housing stock personally. The SS sections and USJ were largely built between the 1970s and 1990s, and behind their walls you find the same things again and again: wiring past its lifespan, original galvanised plumbing, kitchens walled off from the living areas they should open into. Our SS14 project below started exactly there and ended as a warm family terrace with a timber media wall. We survey before we quote, so the number reflects your actual house.
One team, from drawing to keys
Duotone is a design and build studio, CIDB registered (SL027880) and operating as a Sdn. Bhd., so the people who design your home also build it, under one contract with an itemised quotation. No separate designer, architect and contractor to referee. Where MBSJ permits or submission plans are needed, we manage the process end-to-end, including third-party architect consultants where an endorsed drawing is required.
What we take on in Subang Jaya and USJ
- Interior design. Space planning, materials, lighting and built-in carpentry around how your household actually lives.
- Renovation. Kitchens, bathrooms and whole-home upgrades, covered by property type: terrace houses, condos and kitchens.
- Extensions. The classic Subang Jaya move: pushing the kitchen back, adding a room, done with approvals.
- Maintenance and repair. Small works with the same standards, easiest to justify when the team is this close.
Beyond Subang Jaya
USJ, Putra Heights, Bandar Sunway and Petaling Jaya are all within our daily radius, and the wider Klang Valley is covered on the renovation contractor page. Working in Shah Alam? See interior designer in Shah Alam, where three of our completed homes stand.
Homes from our Subang Jaya studio
Real Duotone projects. No renders, no stock.
Fair questions, straight answers.
The same answers we give in person, written down so you can hold us to them later.
Where exactly is your studio?
55, Jalan SS 17/1A, SS17, Subang Jaya. Consultations usually start at your home because the space is the point, but you are welcome at the studio by appointment.
Have you designed homes in Subang Jaya itself?
Yes. A warm family terrace in SS14 is photographed on this site as delivered, and the studio itself has been in SS17 since we started. Subang Jaya is not an area we serve from afar; it is where we are.
Do you know the older SS and USJ houses?
Well. Much of Subang Jaya's landed stock dates from the 1970s to 1990s, which usually means ageing wiring, original plumbing and layouts designed for a different era of family life. We survey what is actually behind the walls before quoting, so the price reflects the real condition of the house.
Do you handle MBSJ renovation permits?
Yes, we manage the process end-to-end, including working permits, submission plans, and coordination with third-party architect consultants where Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya requires an endorsed drawing.
